Fire Protection System Design in Bangladesh
Fire protection system design turns a building's fire risk into buildable drawings: where hydrants, sprinklers, detectors and pumps go, what size every pipe is, and how much water must be stored. Any new factory, high-rise or major extension needs it, because installers, FSCD and auditors all work from these drawings.

- Who needs it
- Developers, factory owners and architects planning new builds or extensions
- What you get
- A coordinated design that contractors can price and build without guessing
- Deliverables
- Layout drawings, riser diagrams, hydraulic calculations, specification, BOQ
Scope
What’s included.
Everything below is done by our own engineers and installation team, so one company answers for the result.
- Hazard classification for every area of the building
- Hydrant, standpipe and landing valve layout
- Sprinkler layout with hydraulic calculations
- Fire pump sizing and pump room layout
- Fire water reserve calculation and tank sizing
- Detection and alarm device layout
- Equipment specification and bill of quantities
- Coordination with architectural, structural and MEP drawings
What does a fire protection design actually decide?
It starts with hazard. A garment sewing floor, a fabric warehouse with high racking and a basement car park burn differently, so NFPA 13 places them in different hazard classes with different water densities. That classification drives everything after it: sprinkler spacing, pipe sizes, how much water the pumps must deliver and for how long, and therefore how big the tank must be.
The design then fixes the physical routes. Risers need shafts, pumps need a room with drainage and ventilation, and hydrant mains need a path around the building. Settling these early is far cheaper than cutting slabs later. The design also leaves room for growth, so a future floor or production line can be added to the same risers and pumps without starting again.
Why do hydraulic calculations matter?
A sprinkler system can look right on a drawing and still starve the most remote heads of water. Hydraulic calculations trace the flow and pressure from the pump to the hydraulically most demanding area and prove the system delivers the required density there, with a margin. They also confirm the pump duty point and the stored water volume.
Calculations are what separate a design from a sketch. Auditors and insurers increasingly ask for them, and they let you compare contractor bids on the same basis instead of on pipe sizes each bidder chose for themselves. When a building later changes use, the original calculations show quickly whether the existing system can cope or needs upgrading.
How does design fit with the rest of the building?
Fire systems compete for ceiling space with ducts, cable trays and lighting. We overlay our layouts on the architectural and MEP drawings so sprinkler heads are not blocked by ducts and detectors are not placed beside supply air diffusers. Clashes found on paper cost nothing to fix.
The design also sets interfaces: which alarm zones release which fire doors, which flow switch reports to which panel address, and what the pump controller signals. Writing these down is what makes commissioning straightforward later, because every link can be tested against a written line instead of someone's memory. It also tells the electrical designer which circuits must be fed from essential supplies.
How it’s done
How we deliver it, step by step.
- 01
Collect drawings
We gather architectural, structural and MEP drawings and confirm the building's use, occupancy and future plans.
- 02
Classify hazards
Each area is assigned a hazard class, which sets water density, detector type and design area.
- 03
Lay out systems
Hydrants, sprinklers, detectors and pump room are drawn and coordinated with the other building services.
- 04
Calculate and size
Hydraulic calculations size pipes, confirm the pump duty point and fix the fire water reserve.
- 05
Issue the package
You receive drawings, calculations, specification and BOQ, ready for tender, approval and construction.
Price guide
What sets the price.
Every site is different, so we price from a survey, not a rate card. These are the factors that move the number, and the written quote shows each one.
- Total floor area and number of storeys
- Number of systems: hydrant, sprinkler, alarm, suppression
- Mix of hazard classes across the building
- Whether accurate architectural drawings already exist
- Coordination with other consultants and revision rounds
- Need for a site survey of an existing building

Frequently asked questions
It depends on the building's area and height, how many systems are being designed, how varied the hazards are, and whether good base drawings exist. Redesigning an existing building usually needs a site survey first. We visit, review your drawings and give a fixed written quote for the scope.
Both. BNBC 2020 Part 4 sets what a building must have, depending on its occupancy, height and area. NFPA standards such as NFPA 13, 14 and 20 give the detailed method for designing those systems. Export factories often face buyer requirements that reference NFPA directly.
Architectural floor plans and sections, the intended use of each area, storage heights for warehouses, and the structural layout. For an existing building we also need access to survey the site. If drawings are missing or out of date, we can measure the building as part of the work.
Usually, yes. The survey and design work happen around normal operation. We plan the later installation in phases, so each area is worked on while the rest stays protected, and we agree shutdowns of the existing system in advance with your team.
