Fire Hydrant & Sprinkler Systems in Bangladesh
A hydrant system gives people and the fire service a pressurized water supply at hose outlets around a building. A sprinkler system puts water on a fire automatically, from the heads closest to it. Both rely on a water reserve and a fire pump set. Most factories, warehouses and high-rises in Bangladesh need at least one of them.
This line covers the water-based fire protection in a building: the hydrant and standpipe network, the automatic sprinkler system and the fire pump room that feeds them. We work from the hydraulic calculation, not a rule of thumb, so the pump, the tank and the pipe sizes match the real demand. Our own team surveys the site, draws the system, supplies listed equipment, installs it, flow-tests it and hands over the drawings and test records your auditor will ask for.

Hydrant & Sprinkler
Fire hydrant system
A fire hydrant system is a fixed, pressurized pipe network with hose outlets on every floor and around the site. Trained staff use the hose reels, and firefighters connect to the landing valves and external hydrants. Factories, warehouses and multi-story buildings in Bangladesh generally need one under BNBC 2020 and their fire safety plan.

Sprinkler system
An automatic sprinkler system is a network of pipes with heat-sensitive heads spaced across the ceiling. When a fire heats a head to its rated temperature, that head opens and sprays water on the fire, while the others stay shut. It controls a fire before people arrive and is designed in Bangladesh to NFPA 13 and BNBC 2020.

Fire pump (UL-listed)
A fire pump set boosts water from the reserve tank to the pressure and flow a hydrant or sprinkler system needs. It normally has a main electric pump, a diesel standby and a small jockey pump. A UL-listed or FM-approved pump has been tested for fire duty, which is why auditors, insurers and approvals often require one.

Hydrant, sprinkler or both?
Most protected buildings end up with all three parts, but each solves a different problem.
| Service | Best for | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Fire hydrant system | Best for: Manual firefighting by trained staff and the fire service on every floor | How: Risers, landing valves, hose reels and yard hydrants on a pressurized pipe network |
| Sprinkler system | Best for: Controlling a fire automatically before anyone reaches it, day or night | How: Heat-activated heads open individually and discharge water over the fire |
| Fire pump (UL-listed) | Best for: Any hydrant or sprinkler system that needs more pressure than gravity gives | How: Main, standby and jockey pumps with listed controllers start on pressure drop |

Hydrant & Sprinkler: questions buyers ask
It depends on the occupancy, height and floor area under BNBC 2020, plus what your buyers, insurer and fire safety plan require. Many garment factories and high-rises need both: hydrants for manual firefighting and sprinklers for automatic control. We check the requirement against your drawings during the free survey and explain it in writing.
There is no fair price per square foot, because cost follows the design. The main drivers are the number of floors and outlets, the sprinkler hazard class, pipe size and material, whether the pumps must be UL-listed or FM-approved, the size of the water reserve and civil work for the pump room. We price from a survey and drawings.
Yes. Most audit findings on older systems are fixable without starting again: non-listed pumps, missing jockey pumps, undersized risers, wrong couplings or no flow test record. We review the existing system, mark what fails and what can stay, and quote the corrective work so you can close the findings in order.
NFPA 25 sets the schedule. Fire pumps run weekly or monthly depending on the driver, gauges and valves are checked on a regular cycle, and the pump flow test and main drain tests are done annually. Keep a signed log of every test, because auditors and the fire service ask to see it.
We can, through an annual maintenance contract that follows the NFPA 25 schedule and includes emergency call-out. If you have your own maintenance team, we hand over the drawings, pump curves and test records and can train them on the weekly and monthly checks.
