Fire Doors & Emergency Exits
Fire-Rated Doors and Panic Bars in Bangladesh
A fire-rated door is a tested assembly of leaf, frame, hinges, closer, latch and seals that holds back fire for a stated time. A panic bar lets people open an exit door with one push, without keys. Stairs, shafts, compartment walls and factory exits all need them under BNBC 2020 and buyer audits.

What makes a door a fire door?
The whole assembly, tested together. A door rated for 90 minutes was tested with a particular frame, hinges, latch, seals and glass. Change any of those for uncertified parts and the rating no longer holds. That is why we supply the leaf, frame and hardware as one certified set and install it to the manufacturer's instructions.
Each door carries a label identifying it and its rating. Without the label and the matching certificate, an auditor cannot accept it. Labels must never be painted over or removed. We hand over a door schedule listing every door, its location, rating and hardware, with the certificates filed against it for your fire safety plan.
Panic bar or fire exit hardware?
Both let people open a door by pushing a bar across its width, without a key or any special knowledge. Panic hardware suits exits used by many people at once, such as factory floors and halls. When that exit door is also a fire door, the hardware must be listed as fire exit hardware, tested to stay latched in a fire.
Exit doors on escape routes should open in the direction of escape and must never be locked or chained while people are inside. Collapsible gates or rolling shutters across exits are a frequent audit finding, as are padlocks fitted for security. Where theft is the worry, alarmed panic hardware or access control that releases on fire alarm keeps the door secure without trapping anyone.
How do you keep a busy door open safely?
Doors on main circulation routes are often wedged open because they slow traffic. A wedge defeats the door completely. The right answer is an electromagnetic hold-open device wired to the fire alarm: the door stays open in daily use and closes by itself when the alarm activates or the power fails.
We connect these through the alarm panel's cause-and-effect logic and test each release during commissioning. The closer must still be strong enough to shut and latch the door against air pressure, so we adjust each one after the hold-open is fitted.
How it’s done
How we deliver it, step by step.
- 01
Schedule the openings
We list every door, its wall, required rating, size, swing direction and hardware.
- 02
Supply certified sets
Leaf, frame and hardware come as matched certified assemblies with documentation.
- 03
Install to listing
Frames are fixed and grouted, gaps set to the listed tolerance, and seals fitted.
- 04
Test and label
Each door is checked for closing, latching and gaps, then labeled and recorded.
Price guide
What sets the price.
Every site is different, so we price from a survey, not a rate card. These are the factors that move the number, and the written quote shows each one.
- Number of doors and required fire rating
- Single or double leaf and opening sizes
- Panic or fire exit hardware specification
- Vision panels and fire-rated glazing
- Hold-open devices and alarm integration
- Removal of existing doors and wall repairs

Frequently asked questions
Price depends on the fire rating, size, single or double leaf, the hardware specification, any fire-rated glazing, and whether old doors and frames must be removed first. Panic hardware and hold-open devices add to the cost. We survey the openings and quote a schedule door by door.
Stairs used for escape are expected to be protected enclosures, with fire-rated, self-closing doors at each floor. The required rating depends on the building's occupancy, height and area under BNBC 2020 and is set in the fire safety plan. Auditors check these doors closely.
NFPA 80 calls for fire door assemblies to be inspected and tested at least annually, with records kept. In busy factories a quick monthly visual check is good practice too, because closers, seals and latches are damaged by daily traffic long before the annual inspection.
Yes, if the glass, the glazing beads and the panel size are part of the tested and certified assembly. Cutting a new vision panel into an existing fire door voids its rating. Choose the glazed version when ordering so it arrives certified.
