Fire Suppression Systems

Kitchen Hood Fire Suppression in Bangladesh

A kitchen hood suppression system protects cooking appliances, the hood and the exhaust duct with wet chemical agent. Heat-sensitive links trigger it automatically, it sprays nozzles over each appliance and it shuts off gas or power to the cooking line. Restaurants, hotels and factory canteens with fryers, woks or grills should have one.

Scope

What’s included.

Everything below is done by our own engineers and installation team, so one company answers for the result.

  • Appliance survey and nozzle coverage design
  • Wet chemical cylinder and release assembly
  • Nozzles for appliances, hood plenum and duct
  • Fusible link detection line
  • Automatic gas valve or power shut-off
  • Remote manual pull station at the exit route
  • Class K extinguisher placement
  • Commissioning and kitchen staff briefing

Why can't you put out a fryer fire with water?

Cooking oil burns hotter than water boils. Water thrown onto it sinks, turns to steam instantly and throws burning oil out of the pan in a fireball. Modern vegetable oils also burn hotter than older animal fats, which is why older dry chemical hood systems often struggle with today's fryers.

Wet chemical agent works differently. It reacts with hot oil to form a soapy layer on the surface, a process called saponification, which seals in vapor and cools the oil so it does not reignite. Systems listed to UL 300 have been tested against modern cooking oils and appliance types.

Why does the duct matter as much as the stove?

Grease collects inside the hood plenum and exhaust duct over months of cooking. A small flare-up at the stove can pull flame into the duct, where it spreads out of reach and can travel to other floors. That is why the system protects three places at once: the appliances, the plenum and the duct entrance.

NFPA 96 covers the hood, grease filters, duct construction and cleaning. A suppression system cannot make up for a duct that has not been cleaned in years. We check duct condition during the survey and tell you if cleaning or duct repair should come first.

What happens when the kitchen layout changes?

Nozzles are aimed at specific appliances. When a kitchen adds a fryer, moves a wok range or swaps a grill, the coverage no longer matches. Any change to the cooking line should be checked against the system design before the new appliance is used, and we can re-aim or add nozzles as needed.

The same applies to hood or duct changes. A longer hood, a new exhaust fan or a rerouted duct can leave a section without a nozzle. During every six-monthly service we compare the cooking line with the drawing, and we update the drawing whenever the layout changes so the next technician works from the truth.

How it’s done

How we deliver it, step by step.

  1. 01

    Appliance survey

We list each appliance, measure hood and duct, and note gas supply and exit routes.

  2. 02

    Nozzle design

We match nozzles to each appliance, plenum and duct under the system's listing.

  3. 03

    Install and shut-off

Our team mounts the cylinder, nozzles and links, and fits the gas or power shut-off.

  4. 04

    Function test

We trip the system without discharge and confirm fuel shut-off and alarm signals.

  5. 05

    Brief the kitchen

Cooks learn the pull station, the Class K extinguisher and what to do after a release.

Price guide

What sets the price.

Every site is different, so we price from a survey, not a rate card. These are the factors that move the number, and the written quote shows each one.

Get an exact quote
  • Hood length and number of appliances
  • Appliance types: fryers, woks, grills, ranges
  • Number of ducts and plenum sections
  • Gas shut-off valve size and type
  • Electrical interlocks with fans and alarm
  • Duct cleaning or repair needed first

Frequently asked questions

If it cooks with oil, gas burners or high-heat appliances under a hood, it is strongly recommended and often expected by buyer and insurance audits. Canteens cooking for hundreds of workers run large woks and fryers for hours, which is exactly the risk these systems address.

NFPA 17A and NFPA 96 call for inspection and service by a trained technician every six months. Fusible links are replaced on the schedule the standard sets, nozzles are checked for grease blockage, and the cylinder and release assembly are tested. Staff should also do a quick monthly visual check.

Gas or power to the cooking line shuts off and stays off until it is reset. The agent is easy to clean but must be removed before cooking restarts. The system then needs a recharge and inspection by a technician before the kitchen reopens, so call us as soon as it happens.

It depends on the hood length, the number and type of appliances, the number of ducts, the size of the gas shut-off valve and interlocks with fans and alarms. A small restaurant line and a large canteen are very different, so we price from an appliance survey.
